The main use of the phenol is the production of bisphenol A, an intermediate product in the manufacturing process of polycarbonate and epoxi resins. It is also used in the production of Caprolactam en route to Nylon 6.6 and for the production of phenolic resins. It is also a precursor for other areas of application, from insulation and coatings to medical products, disinfectants and food additives. There are two grades of phenol for different applications and transportations.
