Our linear alkylbenzene plant in Canada started operations in 1995. It was the first with Detal technology developed jointly by UOP and Cepsa. Located in the Bécancour Industrial and Port Park, our petrochemical company has a state-of-the-art process that represents a breakthrough in the elimination of environmental impact. Recognized for its adherence to environmental standards, Cepsa Chimie Bécancour is the only LAB manufacturer in Canada.
Thanks to an efficient distribution network, we distribute our products throughout North America, where the company holds 22% of the LAB market and has built a solid reputation as a reliable supplier of quality products. With an annual production capacity of 120,000 tons, our plant covers 3% of world demand in a highly competitive market. The abilities of the staff, the quality of the raw materials, state-of-the-art technology, and attentive customer service guarantee a promising future.

The olefins undergo two purification treatments to ensure that the final product meets the quality criteria required by customers.
The resulting LAB undergoes a distillation step to recover and reuse the excess benzene and kerosene.
Kerosene is converted to olefin by the dehydrogenation process in the PACOL reactor.
Benzene and olefins react in the DETAL reactor.
The LAB undergoes a final purification to remove its heaviest part (HAB). This part is used commercially under the name of heavy alkylate.
